Jellycat Collectables, things you should know.

I have carried Jellycat brand of the softest, cutest, lovable stuffies, lovies, however you want to name them, for 25 years. They are a collectable frenzy right now. I recently found that some people buy these at the lower suggested retail prices in store like mine, and then turn to sell them on another platform(s) for reselling items. They up the price 2-5 times the MSRP. They become more desirable when Jellycat.com is out of stock, and not sure when it will return (if ever) of a particular item. Or Jellycat has "retired" the character forever. These other platforms effect what my rare and hard to find inventory is priced.
I want to make customers aware of some of the interesting ways Jellycat is being sold on a secondary market.
You will often see a "dust bag" included in the picture of the JC. It is blue with little logos on it. If you see this on the secondary market, please know that the only way that person was able to get that blue "dust bag" was to have ordered it directly from the Jellycat RETAIL website. Which means, 1. they are not an authorized JC retailer, they are a regular customer like you 2. They paid full price and are now posting it on their platform and marking it up double, triple, whatever they feel like it. 3. They did not buy it from a store like mine (retailer locations like mine are NOT supplied with "dust bags". *I had to call Jellycat directly to talk to someone in the wholesale division to find out where these come from, as I have never had them on my order form to order for my store. They informed me, that they are only available to whoever orders on Jellycat.com
There are many ways to tell if an item is counterfeit and made in another country outside of where Jellycat manufacturs them now. Although Jellycat used to be made in China, they are made in Indonesia now. Some of my inventory that is very rare and highly collectable may still have the made in China tags, because they were made there, but newer inventory is made in Indonesia.
As an authorized retailer for Jellycat, my ordering requirements have restrictions as to how many I can buy for my store. Beware when you see "sold 287" that this may not be the case. My maximum limits are often not more than 12 of any single character, sometimes even less.
Please be aware of fakes. I have had many customers say they have bought them from these sources only to find out when they get them that they are fakes.
My inventory has never left my store. They are not pictured on an old couch or kitchen counter. Support brick and mortar stores whenever possible. Thank you for checking out my webstore, I appreciate you and your patronage! Erica
